WELCOME TO NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (NIT), SILCHAR
"To produce quality manpower, equipped with human and social values required to integrate excellent technical skills, social character, leadership, creativity and innovation for the benefit of mankind and sustainable development of India and to promote research in the emerging deciplines." NIT Silchar, an Institute of National Importance under the NIT Act was established in 1967 as Regional Engineering

College, Silchar. In year 2002, it was upgraded to the status of an NIT from a Regional Engineering College. It is situated on a sprawling campus spread over 600 acres of land on the outskirts of Silchar amid breathtaking scenery. It is surrounded by beautiful lakes and hillocks.
